Volunteer Week 2023

As a members club, DBSC relies on its volunteers to operate. This helps provide a community feel to the club and promotes a positive environment for everyone to contribute and feel part of. There is no correct way, or time, to volunteer but there is hopefully an opportunity for all.

From the board members (doing the beaurocracy), to the Tuesday group (building, breaking, maintaining, inventing), the training team (inspiring), members (duties, slipway cleaning, gardening), Galley chefs, Social/fundraising & parents ( trolley dollys?) there are many ways to be involved.

Everyone deserves a mention, but we must celebrate a special volunteer who has given to the club in many ways over the years, primarily for the training team. As someone who learnt to sail at DBSC she freely gives back to give others the opportunity she had and does so with great enthusiasm. Cheryl Taylor has in addition been recognised by the RYA as a recipient of an Impact Award scheme.

During your time at the club during volunteer week, please have a look around, both at the work others are putting into the club to make DBSC a friendly, successful and busy club, but also at your own contribution to the club. All of these contributions need acknowledged and celebrated and we simply don't have space to include everyones contributions.
