Dalgety Bay Sailing Club hosted their Annual Regatta on the weekend of 28 and 29 September, welcoming 72 boats across six classes, with visitors from all over the UK.

The weather was kind on the Saturday, and in cool but sunny conditions all of the fleets managed the full complement of three races in the afternoon in a reasonably steady 8 to 10 knots of breeze. Balancing the need to keep out of a strong tide with the need to find the stronger breeze, the competitors coped well with tricky tactical racing.

After racing competitors and volunteers enjoyed an evening meal with catering provided by David's Kitchen.

On Sunday the weather was less kind, with no wind at all first thing in the morning. However through the day the breeze started to build and the fleet lauched in about 5 knots of wind. The Race Officer had to abandon the first race after the wind shifted by about 60 degrees, much to the annoyance of the leading boats, but the wind steadied and another race was started. Through the afternoon the wind continued to shift and with the tide turning the competitors had another day of close racing.

Unfortunately time ran out and only two races out of the three scheduled could be completed.

It was great to see so many boats out on the water enjoying high quality close racing. We are very lucky to have such a great venue for sailing, and hosting events, especially with the iconic backdrop of the Forth Rail Bridge.
